Inspecting the steel frame at St John’s Broadbridge Heath

We are currently providing architectural services for the Renewal Project at St John’s, Broadbridge Heath, with one of the first steps being the inspection of the condition of the steel frame.

The striking church dates from the 1960s and is formed by a steel frame on concrete raft.  The building has large, ‘A-shaped’ windows on all four elevations which although repaired and repainted over the years, are now in a poor condition.

The Renewal Project involves replacement of windows, construction of a new link building between the church and hall, rearrangement of the existing facilities and the addition of a new utility annexe, and installation of underfloor heating.  Alongside this, the possibilities for renewable energy to improve the thermal efficiency of the building will be investigated.

Further details of the project are available on the church’s website.

Information on other ecclesiastical projects we have been involved in are available here.
